Job Title: Optician

HOURS OF WORK: Office hours are 8 AM - 5 PM Monday - Friday. Working hours are generally from 8:30 AM to anywhere between    5- 6 PM Monday-Friday.

Starting wage: $15-$17 depending on experience.

POSITION SUMMARY: We are looking for a positive team player to join our team as a full-time optician in a busy professional optical shop/lab. Knowledge of optics is preferred but not required. Will be willing to train the right person. You’ll be working closely with patients while maintaining COVID protocols. The position requires excellent listening and communication skills.

SIGNIFICANT DUTIES:

-Ensure the privacy and security of protected health information per HIPAA requirements

-Be able to read and have an understanding of eyeglass prescription.

-Help patients with eyeglass frame selection that’s compatible with their prescription, as well as, their personal needs.

-Knowledgeable of the different lens types and what options are available.

-Help patients to make the best-informed choice of what lenses would work best for them.

-Understanding insurance to be able to calculate the patient's benefit to get their out-of-pocket expenses.

-Work closely with other opticians and troubleshoot any problems that may arise.

-Adjust eyeglass frames to comfortably fit the patient.

-Repair broken or bent frames.

-Use a manual lensometer to verify finished lenses for accuracy of the prescription,

-Double-checking lenses/orders for accuracy and quality.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of basic mathematical skills
• Ability to stand for long periods
• Punctual and dependable
• Following state mask mandate and vaccination requirements.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:

Must be able to pass ABO certification within 18 months of hire.

Will need to follow all mask and vaccination requirements for healthcare.
